Kitten season 2025 is at our door. Please plan your spay and neuter appointments early as many clinics are full already through March and it's early Feb. Clinics regularly schedule 4-8 weeks out

1. #1 RULE = PLAN AHEAD
Do NOT trap without a plan. Most places book 4-8 weeks out so there is no walk in clinic. Please call or email or book online today for Feb and March. If you wait until March you won’t find appointments until April or June.
Do NOT wait for kittens. If you wait until kittens are here we cannot guarantee we can find them placement. Many municipalities have TNR / spay neuter funds——- almost no one has a shelter contract that means kittens do not HAVE to be taken in by rescues. Spay neuter I can guarantee. Kitten rescue I cannot.
If you need physical assistance - know there are maybe 10 volunteers in the entire Lehigh valley that regularly trap. It is no one’s job to trap (or except the humane society who has animal control contracts).
We all do this around our full time jobs and other commitments so it will take us longer to get to you if you need everything done for you.…..BUT if you can do 1️⃣ thing to help the process it will be much faster. You may get help the same week if you can trap.

9. Aunt Helen's Cats In Need located in Northampton for drop off - we take 15-25 cats to a clinic in near Philly 3 Fridays a month and the last Monday every month.
Aunt Helen’s - Cost is $55 TNR and $80-100 for pet spay/neuter/vaccines/ minor wound repair/flea treatment and microchip (pets).
Aunt Helen’s - We book only 1 month out. Best time to book is the last few days of the month for the next one. Pregnant cats we can get in for emergency spays for $55 within 24-48 hours
4. Municipal Contracts for Stray Cats or Animal Control for Select Lehigh or Northampton Municipalities
COPLAY BOROUGH- we have your tnr contract. It is free until funds run out. We expect that to happen by April so please call early.
CITY OF ALLENTOWN, Salisbury township, upper Milford, Whitehall and south Whitehall residents you may have renewed TNR contracts through the Lehigh humane society.
- They do not work with any rescues or trappers and we no longer run that clinic so we cannot service that area for free but we can guide you, possibly lend traps or give alternative options that may not be free but may help the cat and kitten population explosion that these areas sadly have.
- You should first call your municipality and ask if they renewed with Lchs. Or check their community cat site to see if they’re allowing TNR

Volunteer has limited appointments 2-3 a week please do not wait for this person if you have moms or known females. She may not have the bandwidth to come out immediately so please try to trap yourself. This is for TNR only there is no shelter contract so there is no guarantee that kittens will find rescue

5. WHERE TO GET A TRAP?
- nnn, forgotten felines and Fidos, furr and aunt Helen’s will lend them out for 2 weeks at a time but some have deposits. If you have more than 2 cats to do you should buy a trap or two and trap train. You can always sell it on marketplace later to recoup money or donate it for a tax deductible donation.
- All hardware stores have havaharts they cost about $50-60.

6, HOW TO TRAP?
Trapping itself is the easiest part of the process. You prepare the trap by lining it with newspaper or a puppy pad—-> bait it with smelly or high value food, leading to the back behind the trip plate ——> set the trap and cats should go in to feed.
-cover immediately with blanket or sheet and transport to clinic or rescue or set aside out of the elements to wait for transport. They are safe and contained.

7. HOW DO I ENSURE I DONT MISS MY APPOINTMENT?
Answer = trap train. Tie trap door open and feed in it. Condition the cats to eat in the trap. It takes 2-7 days. If cats have no where else to eat they WILL go in. If food fails do treats, catnip or laser pointers.

🍲 If trap training fails - do not feed for 1-2 days prior to appointment. Water only. Hunger will override caution cats will risk going in. Most of the time 1 day is enough. If they have other feeders notify them you’ll be trapping so they don’t feed. Feed minimal amount of food if you have to.
8. PAYING FOR TNR/COST ?
💰TNR costs $40-55/cat depending on clinic
🚨 Some municipalities are free or subsidized. Call your municipality to ask your admin or treasurer will know if they have spay neuter/TNR or animal control .

We only have Coplay borough TNR contract- all other must use their assigned clinic to be free. Anyone may use us Aunt Helen’s if you can pay. You may check if we have appointments at your needed clinic we will let you know, we cannot guarantee we’ll be allowed to transfer them.

Do You Have More than 3 Cats to fix?
If you have more than 3 cats to do and need to supplement call us and show us what you’ve done we will try help. If we don’t have funds check spayusa from the north shore animal league. It’s a national grant for caretakers that brings down the price to $15/cat at nnn and furr fixit. You can apply every month. It works like a lottery. If that fails check with nnn Allentown
